Fresh Perspectives: How Enterprising North helped transform business leadership through outdoor thinking

Jane Fisher and Rural Design Centre’s Simon Laing

The challenge

Jane Fisher, an experienced business consultant, wanted to help entrepreneurs, business leaders, and their teams escape the distractions of the office and find clarity, focus, and new opportunities through time spent outdoors in Hadrian's Wall Country.

However, turning her innovative outdoor-based consultancy into a sustainable business required funding, guidance, and a clear strategy for growth.

The solution

Through competing in the Hadrian’s Wall Design Sprint, Jane connected with Simon Laing, RDC’s Rural Start-up Advisor.

With his support, she successfully applied for £3,000 of funding, which enabled Jane to develop a website, hire a copywriter, and refine her marketing approach.

Simon also provided invaluable advice that helped Jane build her confidence and stay true to her unique idea, eventually leading to the name Fresh Perspectives.

The results

With the help of the funding and strategic support, Jane now offers a range of walking-based coaching sessions, peer advisory groups, ‘walk-shops,’ and ‘net-walking’ events.

These sessions help business leaders reflect, think creatively, and tackle challenges with a new found confidence.

Fresh Perspectives is growing, with a dedicated following and an expanding network.

Jane’s unique approach, backed by research showing nature’s positive impact on creativity and problem-solving, is proving that business success doesn’t have to happen in a boardroom.
