Farming in a Changing Climate: Agriculture in Northumberland
Northumberland County Council and the Rural Design Centre are working on a project to identify and address the non-technical barriers to reducing emissions across agriculture in Northumberland.
This Innovate UK funded project (running until June 2025) will co-develop proposals, led by insight from farmers, stakeholders and supply chains to help inform future council services and support. As well as holding various engagement events with farmers, external stakeholders and council representatives, our work so far has included:
70+ surveys completed
300+ farmers and wider stakeholders engaging with the programme
80 attendees joined us at Kirkley Hall Campus on the 9th October for Northumberland County Council’s Farming in a Changing Climate Conference.
We are looking forward to holding our final event for the Farming in a Changing Climate project, again at Kirkley on Wednesday 18th June. Find out more and register here https://nland.cc/farmingevent
You told us your experiences and shared valuable insights (surveys conducted summer and autumn 2024) :
Thanks to you, a huge variety of ideas have been put forward, to be considered for their potential in helping you to reduce emissions on your farm.
This has informed the development of several proposals and contributed to feedback for relevant stakeholders through alternative workstreams.
We are also running a series of drop in business clinics at Northumberland marts over June 2025 in partnership with the Farming Advisory Service.
