Charging Ahead: Teesdale’s Rural EV Network Takes Shape
We’ve got more good news to sharether GB Energy grant, delivered with the North East & Yorkshire Net Zero Hub to help bring community-led EV charging to rural Teesdale.
Working with Charge my Street, Durham Community Action and Teesdale Action Partnership, we’ve completed feasibility and engagement work across five remote community buildings. All five sites can accommodate both fast and rapid chargers, a major achievement in areas with significant grid constraints.
This work helps ensure rural communities aren’t left behind in the transition to low‑carbon transport, enabling practical, accessible charging designed around local needs.
Building on our collaboration with DCA through Durham Energy Association Limited (DEAL), this project continues to strengthen community energy across County Durham, placing charge points in community spaces to keep benefits, savings and resilience rooted locally.
If you’re a community building in Teesdale or County Durham and want to explore EV charging or community energy opportunities, we’d love to hear from you.
